LAHORE:
Lahore traffic police have intensified their action against “single wheel vehicles”, and social media users who post videos of dangerous stunts are now also facing legal consequences.
According to Lahore Chief Technology Officer Dr. Athar Waheed, the cyber patrolling team of Lahore Traffic Police maintains a 24-hour surveillance of one-wheelers across the city. He warned that videos promoting such tricks will not be tolerated and that legal action may be taken against those who post or share them for advertising purposes.

The strict enforcement comes after a recent incident in Ichhra, where a video of a boy, a girl and their group performing a wheel went viral on social media.
An FIR was immediately registered under multiple provisions of law, including rash and negligent driving (Section 279 PPC), driving without a valid license (Section 99-A, Motor Vehicles Ordinance, 1965), obstruction of police functions (Sections 138 and 141, Police Order, 2002) and public nuisance (Section 294 PPC).
The FIR, registered at Ichhra police station on October 22, cited Ichra sector senior traffic director Shahid Abbass Ranja as the complainant.
The incident occurred on October 23 at 8:00 a.m., when a motorcyclist riding a 125cc bicycle refused to cooperate during a routine traffic stop, created a public disturbance, and obstructed the traffic warden in the performance of his duties.

Dr Athar Waheed warned that single-wheel driving is a deadly activity that has claimed lives and left families grieving. He added: “Parents and teachers must play an active role in discouraging children from attempting such stunts.”
Lahore traffic police are carrying out awareness campaigns in schools and colleges and will continue to patrol across the city 24/7, warning that anyone promoting or carrying out single-wheel driving activities could face strict legal action.
