Lahore wedding reception leads to severe food poisoning for more than 360 guests

More than 360 guests at a wedding reception in the city of Johar de Lahore were affected by severe food poisoning, with more than 200 hospitalized people, some in critical condition.

The incident took place in a private tent in Satto Katla, where poor food was supposedly served.

Sarfraz, a resident of Khayaban-E-amin, had reserved the tent for his wedding ceremony.

According to initial reports, guests began to experience nausea, vomiting and severe stomach pain shortly after consuming food.

The emergency services were immediately alerted, and multiple ambulances transported the affected people to several hospitals throughout LaHore.

Health officials confirmed that nine patients were in critical condition at the Lahore General Hospital. Other 27 guests were admitted to the Raiwind Indus hospital, while seven more received treatment at the Hospital of Lahore University.

The Kasur DHQ Hospital attended more than ten affected guests, and a total of 31 patients were treated in private and public hospitals in Nareowal.

In an interview with the media, Sarfraz accused the management of marquesine to serve “extremely poor and anti -hygienic quality”, which led to the incident of mass poisoning.

Local authorities have taken rapid measures, and food security equipment collects samples of affected food for tests.

The authorities have promised to take strict measures against those responsible if negligence is demonstrated. A FIR has already been registered against people accused of causing massive food poisoning.
