When the former MLB player, Josh Rutledge, became the goal of criticism, his wife, ESPN’s reporter Laura Rutledge, decided to take the matter in her own hands.

Instead of directly addressing the detractors, Rutledge acknowledged adopting a less striking approach. She created a profile of false social networks to face her husband’s critics.

The negative comment that Rutledge approached probably arose between 2012 and 2017, when Josh competed in the big leagues. He made his debut in MLB with the Rockies of Colorado and then played for the Red Boston socks. He also had a period with the San Francisco giants in 2018.

“When I was with the Angels, I made a false Twitter: I am admitting this, agree? I know this was wrong. I am not doing it since then,” Rutledge said during an appearance in the “March Sports Media” podcast.

“But this was something unique, and the name was Billyhalo76 or something like that. And Billyhalo only tweeted positive things about Josh Rutledge, and then the occasional tweet of Mike Trout, because I thought: ‘shoot, someone will solve it.’ ‘

“Then, if someone had said something negative about him, he would find them and then Billyhalo would be like, ‘You are wrong’, and support him.

Rutledge spent time with the Triple-A affiliate of Los Angels in 2014. He never appeared in a game with the Major Leagues and was changed to the Red Sox in 2015.

Laura also recalled the personal agitation she experienced when her husband was booed during a game.

“I really struggled with that,” Laura said about criticism aimed at her husband. “There were times when he played for the red socks … they had it in the third base, and had not played the third base from high school. He barely played the third base. And he is in the hot corner and they are in Fenway, he has a couple of errors in a game and people booed him and I, ‘Shut up!'”

Laura will return to the “Monday Night Football” transmissions of ESPN this season. It also organizes study programs focused on NFL and university football for the network. The Chicago Bears receive the Minnesota Vikings on September 8, in the first game on Monday night of the 2025 season.

The Super Bowl defender champion, Philadelphia Eagles, will receive the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday night to open the regular season list of this year.
