LDA Frames Green Construction Incentives

LAHORE:

The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has prepared the 2025 ecological buildings incentive policy with incentives that include a 10 percent discount on all official rates for environmental friendly buildings.

The legal advisor of LDA, Sahibzada Mazafar, presented the draft policy before the judge of the Superior Court of Lahore (LHC) Shahid Kairm during the hearing, a set of requests on how the SMOG can be controlled, the company can be free of contamination and the groundwater can protect yourself from waste.

Judge Karim admired the initiative with the address to implement policy after approval.

According to the proposed policy, it will be mandatory to make arrangements to conserve the used water and rainwater, the installation of solar panels, the gardening in the roofs and the design of ecological buildings structures according to the international standard.

It is expected that the facilities that meet the criteria for two years will obtain the state of green construction.

Six buildings are in the last stages to achieve the state of green construction.

The concession granted to buildings that will not implement the policy after three years will become a fine.

The Court was informed that the objective of the policy was to promote environmentally responsible construction and energy efficiency practices in LaHore. It was reported that the Punjab government was committed to sustainable urban development through energy efficiency and ecological construction practices.

The ‘Green Building’ refers to structures designed, built and operated to minimize the environmental impact through the efficient use of resources and better health and productivity of the occupants.

The required implementation of the LDA statutes with respect to the improvement of the environment includes tree planting, roofing gardening, solarization, gray water treatment plants and rainwater collection.

The declared objective of the initiative is to promote the design of ecological buildings and the conservation of energy, provide economic incentives to promote the adoption of ecological practices and align with global standards and national sustainability objectives.

Meanwhile, the Regional Committee of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Pakistan (FPCCI), the food call, Shahid Imran, said while talking with a delegation of industrialists from southern Punjab, that the country can obtain substantial and economic benefits of a national change towards solar energy.

He stressed that with more than 300 sunny days a year, Pakistan has enormous potential to take advantage of large -scale solar energy.

“The transition to solar energy will significantly reduce our dependence on imported fossil fuels, thus relieving the load of the national treasure and helping to reduce the commercial deficit,” he said. “In addition, it offers a sustainable solution to Pakistan’s persistent energy, ensuring an uninterrupted energy supply for homes, companies and industries.”

Shahid Imran said that a robust solar energy strategy can also raise rural communities by allowing solutions outside the network, supporting agriculture and improving living standards. “With the correct political framework, financial incentives and public-private associations, Pakistan can transform their energy sector and move towards a more resistant, inclusive and sustainable economy. The time to completely embrace solar energy is now, for the prosperity of our people and the preservation of our planet,” he added.

The leader of the delegation, Ziaur Rehman, said that solar energy provides a clean and renewable alternative to conventional energy sources.

“It significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions, helps combat climate change and improves air quality, thus reducing health -related costs caused by pollution,” he said.

He also noted that the growing solar energy sector has the potential to create thousands of green jobs, from manufacturing and installation to maintenance and research.
