Apparently, Lenovo is configured to show a new conceptual portable computer in the IFA show next week that presents a screen that can be rotated in a portrait position, along with an innovative support for laptop.

As the edge reports, according to the renowned famous, Evan Blass, the laptop is known as ‘project pivo’ (which is an internal code name) according to an X publication.
As you can see, the screen revolves independently of the lid, so it can twist around 90 degrees so that it is in an upright position in the portrait mode. Presumably there is a slippery mechanism to facilitate this movement, but obviously we have no clue to what; Only an image and a basic explanation of the concept.
Analysis: An unlikely duo, or a perfect combo?
I really like the idea of laptop support: this is AI to adjust the ergonomics of the use of your portable computer in real time.
However, the concept is one thing, the execution completely another. And there is clearly the possibility of an auto -folding notebook position so that things are wrong and become extremely annoying.
The laptop of rotating screen is also quite ingenious, but this is rather a niche product. How many people really need to turn their screen in a portrait orientation? Not so many, but, of course, it can be useful for some people (the encoders, perhaps writers or graphic designers perhaps).
What worries me about these concepts that introduce elegant mechanisms is that these moving parts represent much more potential for things to go wrong with their notebook. And, for example, if your screen ends trapped at an angle of 65 degrees halfway between portrait and landscape; That will not be fun. Even so, perhaps the laptop position AI can fix all the unstable ergonomics for you, maybe that is the great master plan of Lenovo here?
With all seriousness, as Blass points out, many concepts of laptop move and never realize, and that may be the case with these ideas. However, some of them make the cut, such as Thinkbook laptop with an roller screen that was launched.
