It’s no secret that the NBA faces an uphill battle.
The league’s ratings decline has extended well beyond the first week and has continued as Christmas Day, normally an NBA spectacle, approaches.
Many reasons have been discussed as to why ratings are down, but the common suggestion is that the regular season is looking a lot like the All-Star Game has been recently.

In recent years, the midseason contest has been filled with deep 3-pointers, uncontested dunks and almost non-existent defense. Now, we’re seeing a record pace of three-pointers made, missed, and made overall, while the lack of defense has become evident.
This year, the NBA All-Star Game will be a four-team tournament that the league hopes will add some competitiveness.
LeBron James admitted that “the last few years haven’t been a great All-Star Game,” but he knows the NBA is facing bigger problems, and the three-pointer could be largely to blame.
