The recent cyber attack in the LEE Enterprises newspaper firm has turned out to be a ransomware attack, after all.
The company confirmed the news in a recent 8 km report presented to the United States Stock Exchange and Securities Commission (SEC), sharing more details about the attack, confirming that it was a ransomware strike.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the threat actors illegally accessed the company’s network, encrypted critical applications and exfiltrated certain files,” he said in the presentation. “The company is actively carrying out a forensic analysis to determine whether confidential data or personal identification information (PII) were compromised.
