Lee Westwood is certainly happy to decipher the top 40 in the open championship last weekend, but that moment was taken to expel the official world golf ranking (OWGR).
Westwood, the veteran golfer who plays at Liv Golf Tour, now is the number 930 on the Owgr list after being tied 34º in Royal Portrush shot 3,759 places.
Westwood can now say that he is finally ahead of his son, Sam, who is in 2,759 position on the list while playing in a mini tour. But that is exactly why Westwood has repairs with the way Owgr to classify the golfers.

“I think that shows that without world classification points a bit of the system mocks,” Westwood said Wednesday at the Liv Golf United Kingdom event, according to ESPN.
Westwood is among many LIV golf stars that believe that their events should be included within the OWGR. However, the last application of the League is currently under review.

Initially they had tried to obtain accreditation when the league began in 2022, but was denied. As a result, LIV golfers cannot win the Owgr points unless they play in important championships or international tour events.
Take Dustin Johnson, for example. It has only 571 position on the list, but that is because it will end on the 23rd in the opening. Johnson was once the number one golfer in the world for 135 weeks, but since LIV joined, he has collapsed in the classification.

Only Bryson Dechambeau (16º) and Tyrrell Hatton (21) are in the top 50 in the Owgr classification. Other Liv Golf stars such as Jon Rahm and Patrick Reed do not break that superior step despite their solid game.
“I think it is mainly related to wanting the best players in the main championships, not wanting this conversation in which some people are lost because we have no world classification points in LIV,” Westwood said while he loved to see Liv Golf send another request.
Hatton has expressed that his fellow LIV golf players are accredited for their work in the League, especially when it comes to qualifying for important tournaments.

“I think there are many boys here that you certainly want to play in the specialties. If there is a better way for that for us, then that is brilliant,” Hatton said.
