- Lexar Play Pro MicroSDXC Express card allows faster downloads and game times
- Compatible with recoil with UHS devices but limited to slower speeds
- Nintendo Switch 2 admits MicroSD Express, increasing adoption hopes throughout the industry
Upon arriving just in time for the imminent launch of Nintendo Switch 2, Lexar has introduced the first 1 TB MicroSD card in the world, one of the largest and most rapid microSD cards currently on the market.
The Lexar Play Pro MicroSDXC Express offers reading speeds of up to 900 MB/Sy writes speeds of up to 600 MB/s, which makes it appropriate for demanding tasks such as accelerated discharges, high -speed data transfers and faster games loading times.
The card uses a combination of PCI Express 3.0 and NVME 1.3 interfaces, similar to those found in the best SSD. This significantly reduces latency and increases data transfer speeds, delivering up to 10 times the performance of standard microSD cards.
However, MicroSD Express cards are currently only compatible with a limited number of devices, which until now has restricted the broader adoption. With the recently announced switch 2, according to reports, using this standard exclusively, the industry is optimistic that MicroSD Express will be more widely compatible in future portable devices.
Can I use this card in regular microSD slots?
The Lexar Play Pro MicroSDXC Express card is compatible with recoil with Host UHS-I and UHS-II devices, which means that it can still be used in older hardware. However, in such cases, the yield will be limited to the UHS -I speeds, which is usually about 100 MB/s reading speed.
The new card comes with a limited warranty for life, as well as the Lexar recovery tool, which allows users to restore formatted files or accidentally eliminated.
“The new Microsd Express Standard offers us a way of offering a memory card with incomparable performance in that form factor,” said Joey López, brand marketing director in Lexar.
“We are excited to create a card for our customers to take advantage of the benefits of this new standard and prepare players for the next generation of hand games.”
The Lexar MicroSD Express card is priced at $ 199.99 for the 1TB version, $ 99.99 for the 512 GB model and $ 49.99 for the 256 GB variant.
