Local government employees have announced a protest against non-payment of salaries.
The metropolitan government of Peshawar city has been struggling to achieve financial stability, as a result of which its employees have not received their salaries for the month of December despite 15 days passing.
After two weeks of waiting, the employees threatened to start a protest and go on strike over non-payment of their salaries and dues. Official sources told The Express PAkGazette that the financial situation of the Metropolitan City Government had further deteriorated, making it very difficult to pay salaries.
The situation is dire for Peshawar local government employees who are facing severe financial difficulties due to non-payment of salaries and pensions.
As a result, many employees struggle to make ends meet and even pay their electricity and gas bills. Many have complained that their electricity supply had been cut off due to non-payment. To make matters worse, local merchants have stopped offering products on credit, they said. Employees said the root cause of the crisis lay in the misguided policies of the provincial government, including the mayor’s office and local government officials, which had caused serious financial difficulties.
Unfortunately, despite the seriousness of the situation, no serious attempt has been made to find a solution, and the Department of Local Government and the Minister for Local Government have not addressed the issue, leaving local government employees to bear the burden. the worst part of the situation.
