- LG announces that its upcoming OLED TVs have won multiple CES awards
- There is a transparent OLED, but it may be the existing model
- But there’s also a next-generation ‘Micro RGB’ mini-LED TV
Every January, the consumer electronics event CES announces the winners of its Innovation award, but the winners tell us who they are and what products they have been chosen months before. And next year’s awards will go to many LG products, including its flagship transparent OLED TV and a new, currently secret RGB-backlit TV.
The OLED TV, the LG Signature OLED T, is getting the CES Best of Innovation award, although this could very well be the existing model again, rather than a new one. But it seems other LG OLEDs have won awards too, and while it’s not exactly a surprise that LG is working on a new wave to break into our list of the best OLED TVs, this is the first sign of them.
But even more interesting is that LG will also receive an Innovation Award for “a premium LCD TV with Micro RGB technology.” The details of that one are still under wraps.
LG is famous for its OLEDs, but it has struggled to compete in the mini-LED market and has been trampled by the superior quality of Samsung and the superior value of TCL and Hisense.
But investing in RGB mini-LEDs could be an opportunity to change that situation. We already knew that Samsung, Hisense and TCL are investing heavily in RGB LEDs and have shown off TVs based on next-generation LED technology, but this is the first we’ve heard from LG.
This could be a clean slate for the company: new technology, new experience, new televisions. We’re looking forward to seeing what this set could offer.
What CES awards have LG products won?
This is the fourth year in a row that LG has won Best of Innovation awards: the flexible LG OLED Flex won one in 2023, the LG Wireless OLED won the award in 2024, the LG OLED Evo with enhanced brightness won in 2025, and the LG Signature OLED T is a CES 2026 winner.
This latest award is strange, because the LG Signature OLED T won five innovation awards at CES 2024, including the same Best Innovation award it will receive in 2026. It’s undeniably a technological tour de force, a 77-inch wireless OLED that can turn transparent and has been displayed in art installations around the world. But receiving the same award two years later makes you feel – even more than usual –; CES delivers a batch of awards: it is much more about marketing than marking new innovations. But perhaps we will be surprised and a new version of this television will appear.
That’s not the only CES award LG will take home in January. Smart TV platform webOS has won awards for innovation in both artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, and has also won an award for its integrated robotic vacuum station.
The StanbyME 2 mobile display receives an innovation award, as does the LG UltraFine evo 6K pro-spec monitor. It is the world’s first display to support 6K resolution and the latest Thunderbolt 5 connectivity.
We’ll see the secret new TVs in person at CES 2026 in January at least, and see if everything here really deserves an award.
