LAHORE:
The Superior Court of Lahore (LHC) ordered on Tuesday the release of six members of a family, including women and children, who had been found illegally confined by an owner in the District of Mandi Bahauddin.
Judge Tariq Mahmood Bajwa issued the order by hearing a request for habeas corpus presented by Muhammad Qasim, a resident of Mandi Bahauddin, who alleged that his relatives had been illegally arrested.
A sheriff designated by the court presented the rescued persons, Muhammad Salem and the members of his family, before the court.
The Sheriff reported that, acting in the Court’s directives and accompanied by the Local Police, a raid was made in the Laterina of Muhammad Akram, an owner in the village of Jokalian, Tehsil Phalia.
According to the sheriff, Salem was found chained in chains, while his wife and children were locked in a room. The six were rescued during the operation.
