LAHORE:
The Superior Court of Lahore (LHC) on Tuesday arguments before June 13 on a statement requesting the disqualification of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari as a member of the National Assembly (MNA) under article 62 of the Constitution, read with section 203 (3) of the 2017 Elections Law.
Judge Khalid Ishaq was listening to the petition presented by Ashba Kamran, who urged the court to direct the president of the Ayaz Sadiq National Assembly to send a reference to the Pakistan Electoral Commission (ECP) for the discalification of Bilawal’s discalification about the alleged dual membership in two separate political parties, parts of the Pakistan peoples (Pakista parties)
The petitioner argued that the ECP, such as the constitutional control agency of the electoral process, had not enforced section 203 (3) and its pre -electoral instructions issued on June 13, 2024, to all the officers who returned, which prohibited candidates from holding memberships of the dual parties.
She claimed that Bilawal has continually occupied dual positions, as president of PPP and, simultaneously, as an elected MNA of PPPP, both in the 2018 general elections and in 2024.
