LAHORE:
The Superior Court of Lahore (LHC) has sought arguments of the federal government about the objections raised by the Court Registry Office for a statement presented by Hassan Niazi, nephew of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who was sentenced to ten years in prison in a May 9 case.
Hassan, who was tried by a military court for his participation in acts of vandalism after the arrest of Imran Khan on May 9, 2023, approached the LHC through the defender of Faisal Siddiqi who challenged his delivery to the army and the trial by the military authorities.
A division bank comprising Judge Syed Shahbaz Ali Rizvi and Judge Tariq Mehmood Bajwa heard the statement and issued a notice to the federal government for September 16 to go to the objections of the office.
The LHC Registrar office raised objections to the petition so as not to annex an attesting copy of the commander officer with the case file and not to approach the appropriate forum.
The petitioner’s lawyer said that after the arrest of his client in the case of attack of the Jinnah house, he was never produced before any anti -terrorism court (ATC) or other civil courts.
