LHC seeks the legal status of the conspirators of May 9

LAHORE:

The Superior Court of Lahore (LHC) has sought details before June 19 with respect to the legal status of those PTI leaders who participated in a meeting where the founding president of the party, Imran Khan, allegedly instructed the members of the party to point to military facilities in case of arrest.

Meanwhile, the Bank of the Division, headed by Judge Syed Shahbaz Ali Rizvi, also ordered the Prosecutor’s Office to conclude the arguments about the bail supplications presented by Imran Khan in multiple cases registered against him in relation to the disturbances of May 9. The court requested a list of all the participants of the meeting to determine who had secured the bond or who had been arrested.

At the beginning of the procedures, a list that contains the names of the witnesses of the incidents of May 9, who had registered their statements, appeared before the court.

The court was informed of all the details about the cases in which those witnesses statements had been registered.

The law officer informed the court that this was not a case of routine and that different methods had been used to collect evidence. He argued that, according to the law, it is not necessary for a person who encourages violence to participate directly in the fire acts caused.

Anyone who incites the public to violence would face the same consequences as those who commit fires caused or interrupt the law and order, he added.

The law officer also argued that any person whose instructions lead the public to meet and cause interruption or destruction would be equally responsible.
