After sending text messages to the bosses of the BUCS, Coen retired from the consideration of the Jaguars coach in the chief coach on Wednesday.
Buccaneers were prepared to make Coen the best paid offensive coordinator of the NFL.
However, the Jaguars separated from their general manager, Trent Baalke, Wednesday afternoon. The owner of the Jaguars, Shad Khan, approached Coen directly to see if he would reconsider accepting the chief coach post.
On Thursday, Coen was in Jacksonville for an interview in person and was finally hired.

While Coen was in Jacksonville interviewing, the BUCs were waiting for him to enter the building and sign his new contract to keep the team.
But the BUCS could not contact Coen or his agent, and began to realize that it was unattainable because he was in Jacksonville interviewing himself for the position, according to the report.
The Jaguars hope Coen can help Trevor Lawrence to have a year of career in the same way that he did with Mayfield last season.
The Bucs averaged 29.5 points per game in the regular season and Mayfield launched 41 touchdowns, the greatest amount of his career, on the way to win the South NFC.
The Jaguars had a 4-13 mark last season, with Lawrence wasted time due to an injury, which led Khan to say goodbye to coach in chief Doug Pederson and, finally, Baalke after the season.
Coen will have the general selection number 5 in the next NFL draft to try to start the recovery of the Jaguars.
