The royal family has shared photos never seen from Queen Elizabeth with her parents and her sister Princess Margaret to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VJ day.
Royal Collection Trust, in a joint publication with the palace, shared the photos on Instagram.
The photos were published with subtitles, “a moment of national celebration.”
He said: “On this day, 80 years ago, great crowds gathered before Buckingham Palace for Japan Day celebrations (VJ), marking the end of World War II.”
In addition, he says: “From the balcony, King Jorge VI and Queen Elizabeth, along with his daughters, Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret, greeted the jubilant public.
“King Jorge VI recorded in his diary that” they went on the balcony 6 times during the afternoon and night, “great crowds had accumulated outside Buckingham Palace at 10 am.”
On August 19, 1945, a Thanksgiving service was held in the Cathedral of San Pablo, which was attended by the Royal Family.
Meanwhile, before, King Charles also delivered an audio message to mark the historical occasion.
He said: “For the millions of families gathered around their wireless sets, and for their loved ones that still serve from home, it was the message by which a world tired of the battle had long prayed: ‘War is over'”.
