Los Angeles Kings apologize after emitting Armenian scarves made in Türkiye

The Kings of Los Angeles organized one night Armenian last week, and became a public relations disaster.

The Los Angeles area is home to the largest Armenian community outside Armenia, so the team paid tribute to the Armenians from the area.

Fans who attended a game on February 22 against the Utah hockey club received an Armenian scarf.

The scarves were made in Türkiye.

Neighboring countries are historical enemies derived from the death of an estimate of 1.5 million Armenians in massacres, deportations and forced marches that began in 1915 in Ottoman Türkiye. Historians see the event widely as a genocide, although Türkiye rejects the notion.

After listening to the criticism, the Kings issued an apology.

“We occupy, store and sell merchandise from a select list of manufacturers that have officially licensed the league, and we were not aware of the origin of the production of the article.”
