LSU Tigers: Olivia Dunne celebrates the tit title of the Gymnastics team


The Women’s Gymnastics of LSU remained the program to overcome at the SEC on Saturday, since the Tigers claimed their second consecutive championship of the conference.

LSU was team No. 2 that entered the tournament and overcome No. 1 Oklahoma with a 198.200 score. The Sooners obtained a score of 197,925 and the Florida Gators obtained a score of 197,825.

Lexi Zeiss, Ashley Cowan and Kailin Chio started strong in the bars. Sierra Ballard and Kylie Coen added to the score with solid performances on the beam.

Konnor McClain, Haileigh Bryant and Aleh Finnegan scored at least 9,925. Each contributed to the total 49,450 score of the team, which the school said it was the highest score in the beam in the history of LSU in the SEC Championship.

LSU scored 49,625 on the floor and 49,525 in vault to ensure victory.

Bryant won the individual title of the SEC for the second consecutive year with a total score of 39,725.

Last year, Bryant also won the All-Around. She could be the first to achieve consecutive individual titles since Maggie Nichols of Oklahoma did it in 2018 and 2019.
