Luis Rubiales fined with unwanted player kiss, the rules of the court


Luis Rubiales, the former president of the Spanish Football Federation, was convicted on Thursday of sexually assaulting a player when he kissed her without her consent after the victory of the team’s women’s World Cup in 2023.

The Superior Court of Spain ordered Rubiales to pay a fine of around $ 10,400 and absorbed it with coercion charges, according to Reuters. He was also restricted from leaving less than 200 meters from the football player and communicating with her for a year.

Jenni Hermoso accused Rubiales of kissing her without her consent when Spain celebrated the victory of the team over England. Through the trial, Rubiales maintained that the kiss was consensual.

Rubiales was pressed from his position as football president of Spain in 2023, resigning while prohibited by FIFA for three years despite an initial press conference where he reiterated that he would not resign. From the incident, Hermoso said she has had trouble escaping, especially in Mexico, where she plays for her club team among her duties for her country.
