Maine School officer torn to compare trans athletes to civil rights battles

The Superintendent of Public Schools of Portland (Maine), Ryan Scallon, faces immense criticism after comparing the current battle to allow trans inclusion in women’s sports and girls with the struggles of US civil rights that involve women and minorities.

Scallon made his comments during a school meeting meeting on Tuesday.

“In the history of our country, there have been many struggles for civil rights, included, but not limited, fighting for the rights of women to vote, for racial equality and for homosexual marriage. In each of these fights, the opposition in part was promoted by fear in the attempts to ostracize other people who look, act or believe in something different,” said Scallon. “Today, I see that happens again with transgender or non -binary students, and in particular, our transgender athletes.”

Maine’s state representative, Laurel Libby, who recently ascended as a key figure in the continuous resistance of the State about trans inclusion, told Pak Gazette Digital that he finds the comments of “insulting” and “inconceivable” scall.

“It’s insulting for women everywhere,” Libby said. “If I were a father there, I would feel betrayed and, since I have no representation, and certainly that my girls had no representation … It is an example of leadership that actively participates in the erase of women and girls.

“It is inconceivable that a public official compare the policy of arouse of allowing biological men to participate in girls’ sports with the struggle for civil rights that previous generations fought.”

Libby became an outstanding figure in this Maine debate after publishing a pole jumper of the Grely high school on social networks. The Pole jumper competed as recently as June 2024 as a biological man, and ended up winning a state championship as a woman.

Libby was later censored for the position, and since then has filed a lawsuit in response to try to recover its voting and speech privileges.

Maine responds to Trump Admin’s statement violated title IX by allowing transgeans in girls in girls

The former jumping coach with pole jumping from the high school of Maine and Allen Cornwall, who had to judge a competition that involved a trans athlete earlier this year, told Pak Gazette Digital to see Scallon’s comments as “a farce.”

“It’s a farce,” said Cornwall. “Until you feel there and look at the faces of the other girls, and then you can come and tell me why you think it’s fair, I really don’t want to hear it. I look at the faces of these girls every week, I have witnessed and I have been test.”

The executive director of the American Coalition of Parents, Alleigh Marre, provided a statement to Pak Gazette Digital condemning the entire liberal movement in Maine that is working to allow trans inclusion.

“Parents agree overwhelmingly that forcing gender ideology in children is unacceptable and is fed up with activists who pretend biology is not real,” said Marre.

“From boys in sports and girls ‘locker room to tampons in boys’ bathroom [witnessing] The sexual misconduct that involves a minor to say the morning prayer in the House of Representatives today. You are not in contact to describe your continuous actions. It’s time for our leaders to listen to parents and families. “

Users on social networks shared their own criticism about Scallon’s comments.

Maine has become one of the largest battlefields in the country in the national debate on trans inclusion in girls’ sports.
