- Camera sensor updates planned for Galaxy S26 series
- The S26 Ultra model may also have a larger battery inside
- We may see an even thinner model replacing the Galaxy S25 Edge
We could be just a couple of months away from the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S26 series, and the leaks continue: the latest rumor to reach our ears concerns an update to the telephoto camera on all four S26 models.
This comes from Alchemist Leaks (via Notebookcheck) and indeed covers all the key specs of the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus and Galaxy S26 Ultra (this source backs up previous rumors that the Galaxy S26 Edge has been cancelled).
Most of the specs are what we expected, but the highlight is the inclusion of a 1/2.55-inch 12MP telephoto camera sensor on all three phones. That’s significantly larger than the 10MP 1/3.52-inch sensor on the current Samsung Galaxy S25 phones.
While the 3x optical zoom wouldn’t change, the resulting photos would, in theory, be noticeably better in terms of capturing detail and reducing noise. A larger sensor means more light can be captured with each photo you take.
Improved batteries and new models.
The same tipster suggests that the S26 Ultra model could have an even larger telephoto lens, but this is “not yet confirmed.” There are also references to other “upgraded” camera sensors on all models, with no details on sensor size.
Samsung executives have gone on record to say that improved cameras are on the way with the new phones. The slowness of updates in this department is something the Galaxy S series has been criticized for in the past.
Another interesting fact from this leak: the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra may have a 5,400 mAh battery, compared to the 5,000 mAh of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, although according to the informant it is a “last minute change” that is “not guaranteed.”
Finally, in addition to mentioning that the Galaxy S26 Edge has been canceled (which matches previous reports), the tipster says that a “thinner” model could be on the way to replace it, so we may be getting four flagship models after all.
