Last week, a man attacked Ariana Grande in the Evil: forever premiere in Singapore. He has now been sentenced to nine days in jail.
The local court says the person, whose name is Johnson Wen, was charged with disorderly conduct after pleading guilty to the incident.
During the proceedings of the case, the man in question said he “wouldn’t do it again” after he was caught trying to run on the carpet twice.
Ariana, for her part, did not break her silence on the matter. But it’s worth noting that Johnson has a history of attacking celebrities at events, including Priyanka Chopra, Katy Perry, The Weeknd and The Chainsmokers, among others.
He later posted those clips on social media. “@arianagrande @wickedmovie Dear Ariana Grande, thank you for letting me jump on the yellow carpet with you,” read the caption Johnson used in her post about the pop icon.
It is pertinent to mention that Cynthia Erivo, Ariana’s co-star, pushed back the person who lunged at him, causing a wave of praise for the actress.
