The Nobel and Girls Education Rights activist Malala Yousafzai criticized the United States government for not using her influence to stop the war in Gaza and responded to accusations about her silence about Israel’s genocide against the Palestinians during women of financial times at the commercial summit.

“Just looking at the role of the United States in this has really been disappointing. The United States has so much power and influence that it has not really used to cause peace, stability or protect human life,” he said. She expressed her hope that the United States takes stronger measures to stop Israel’s genocide in Gaza, press fire and allow humanitarian aid to flow to the region.

In response to accusations about his silence about the genocide in Gaza, he said that these statements are not based on facts. “The scrutiny is always present for public figures. One reason for this is that some people do not deliberately review. For example, I have faced scrutiny for allegedly being silent about Gaza, but I have talked about that many times since 2014,” he said.

Malala emphasized her ongoing efforts to raise awareness and provide support, pointing out: “I have used my platform to advocate this cause and contributed to donations for the construction of schools in 2014, 2021 and 2023, in addition to giving emergency subsidies to organizations that are helping many children in Gaza at this time.”

He also highlighted the difficult situation of Afghan women and girls suffering under the Taliban domain and condemned the actions of the regime. “What is happening to women and girls in Afghanistan. I hope that the United States takes stronger measures to support women and girls there, intensify their efforts and develop a more global pressure on the Taliban. They urge you to stop with women and Afghan activists, bringing their voices at the forefront.”

Malala concluded by reinforcing the importance of collective action, stating: “We are all on the same side; we are all talking about the same cause.”
