“The water level in Mangla DAM has reached the dead level, falling to 1,050 feet, which leads to the authorities to stop water discharge, said the Authority for Water and Energy Development (WAPDA).
A WAPDA spokesman said that the water level in the Tarbela dam is only 3 feet above the dead level and it is expected to reach the dead level in the next 36 hours.
Currently, the water level in the Tarbela dam is at 1,402 feet, with only 15,000 water-pies of water in storage. Meanwhile, Mangla Dam owns 72,000 water-pies, and the chashma dam contains 15,000 acres-pie.
Combined water storage through Tarbela, Mangla and Chashma DAMS is currently 102,000 Acres-Pies, Wapda spokesman said.
The water entrance and the output details in several places are the following: in Tarbela in the Indo River, the entrance is 22,200 Cusecs, with an output of 20,000 Cusecs. In mangla on the Jhelum River, the entrance is 19,900 CUSECs, and the exit is 28,000 CUSECs; In Chashma Barge, the entrance is 38,400 CUSECs, and the exit is 27,000 CUSECs.
In addition, in the head of the Chenab River, the water entrance is 10,800 CUSECs, with an exit of 6,100 CUSECs, while in Nowshera in the Kabul River, the entrance and the output flow are recorded in 14,300 Cusecs.
