- Most Workers Now Use AI in Some Way at Work, Report Finds
- Managers believe they may have to manage AI agents in the future
- Continuing training deficiencies continue to disproportionately affect non-managers
New data from SnapLogic has quantified not only the widespread use of AI in the workplace, but also how managers perceive it.
Four in five (81%) workers now use AI tools in their roles, and more than half (57%) use AI agents regularly to save time, but workers still have their concerns, and it’s not just about their job security.
Many are simply worried about being perceived as lazy or untrustworthy (43%), while others feel judged or questioned when using AI (24%).
Workers are concerned about the use of AI at work
Although workers are clearly concerned about how they will be perceived, most respondents trust AI and their colleagues to do the same work with the same quality. Still, more than half (52%) of respondents, including senior managers, believe they are more likely to manage AI agents than people in their future careers. Three in five (61%) even think that managing agents would be easier than managing humans.
On the other hand, almost half (46%) of workers believed they could be managed by an AI agent in the future.
The survey is proof that, despite evidence that human workers remain an integral part of the job and projections that jobs will only evolve (not disappear), employees still have concerns about job security.
“The future of work is not about replacing people, but rather using AI as a partner to empower what is uniquely human: strategy, insight and innovation,” explained Dominic Wellington, Project Marketing Manager at SnapLogic.
Meanwhile, a continuing training gap and talent shortage continues to affect companies that want to invest in AI. Just one in three (36%) have formal training in AI, and more than half (54%) claim to be self-taught through trial and error.
This is even more evident among young workers: 70% of managers say they are very confident compared to 33% of non-managers.
“This is a critical time for organizations to think carefully about implementing technology to ensure trust across the entire workforce and realize the greatest business value,” added Wellington.
