With 8:07 in the game, a triple by Brandon Murray gave McNee a 51-29 advantage, but gave all the credit to the Tigers for not leaving it.

From then on, McNese cooled and Clemson warmed up. Clemson had a 38-18 race to close the game. McNese even led by 12 with less than a remaining minute, but Clemson knocked four consecutive triples to be a three -point game with 12 seconds for the end.

With 10 seconds, Javohn Garcis went to the line and made one of his two free throws, which makes him a four -point game. The three -point streak ended and the clock expired after a tray, turning what was a burst into an exciting thriller at the end.

It was the first big surprise of the tournament. No. 9 Creighton defeated No. 8 Louisville earlier in the day, but they are much easier to predict than 12s over 5 years.

McNese won his first victory in the tournament and then faces No. 4 Purdue, who eliminated No. 13 High Point earlier in the day, despite the fact that the latter does interesting things at first.

McNese arrived at the headlines on Wednesday when the reports circulated that his chief coach, Clemson Will Wade, agreed an agreement to become the next chief coach in NC State at the end of the season.

Wade admitted that he had spoken with state officials from North Carolina on early Wednesday, noting that he had been transparent with his players about the possible movement.

But for the moment, Wade stays a little more with McNese.
