- Marvel ZombiesThe official release date has been confirmed by Disney.
- The MCU’s First Adult Animated Show Will Debut on October 3
- However, the final episode of the Disney Plus series will not be released on Halloween
Disney has finally revealed when Marvel Zombies will be released on Disney Plus.
In a trailer for Marvel’s 2025 animation posted on The Walt Disney Company’s website, the release date for the comic giant’s first TV-MA animated show was confirmed to be Friday, October 3. And if…? The spin-off miniseries will arrive in time for the spookiest season of the year, also known as Halloween.
Marvel ZombiesThe October release date isn’t a big surprise. Last November, Marvel revealed the official release dates and windows for its Disney Plus 2025 lineup, which includes the long-awaited arrival of Daredevil: Born Again. Among the sister projects of the latter, Marvel Zombies It’s confirmed to launch on Disney Plus this October, so this latest announcement only narrows its release window to late 2025.
For the uninitiated: Marvel Zombies is a follow-up And if…? episode 5 of season 1, titled ‘What If…Zombies?’. That entry, which was inspired by Marvel’s ‘Zombies’ comic book series, took place in an alternate reality to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), one in which, surprise, a zombie outbreak leads to an apocalyptic event that almost ends humanity. Marvel Zombies will pick up the story after the end of that episode, which left Earth’s remaining superheroes, including Spider-Man, still searching for a cure. Ms Marvel, Shang-Chi, Yelena Belova, Red Guardian, Kate Bishop and Ironheart are confirmed to be part of the show’s dwindling roster of superheroes.
Rise from the dead, but not on Halloween
Given its TV-MA rating, Marvel Zombies will, according to the comic titan’s head of television and streaming, Brad Winderbaum, be “tougher” than previous MCU projects. So what better time to release the studio’s first potentially gory series than the scariest time of the year, i.e. Halloween?
The Marvel Phase 6 show will arrive before the spooky 2025 season, but it won’t debut on that date, nor will the final chapter of the limited series arrive on October 31. Zombies will be a four-part event, with its premiere scheduled for the aforementioned date of October 3. If all four episodes are released on release day, it will debut in its entirety almost a month before Halloween arrives. Even if Zombies It follows the traditional MCU TV series release scheduling format, namely new episodes airing weekly, although its finale will arrive on one of the world’s best streaming services on October 24.
Equally creepy MCU projects, like Werewolf at night and Agatha all the timethey haven’t debuted or ended on Halloween. The first television mini-movie arrived on October 7, while the second WandaVision The spin-off premiered on September 18 and ended on October 30, so Marvel has a prior way of not launching its horror productions on October 31. Still, I think it’s a little disappointing that Zombies won’t, especially since Halloween falls on a Friday this year. Transmission ZombiesIn my opinion, the ending would have been a tremendously fun appetizer to a spooky party weekend!
