Maryam Nawaz announces the flood relief package


Punjab Prime Minister Maryam Nawaz revealed on Wednesday a special compensation package for people affected by floods, while describing the key infrastructure plans for long -term protection.

In a relief field in the city of Jalpur Pirwala, the prime minister declared that the heirs of those who lost lives in the floods would receive rs1 million each. The owners who lost their property will also obtain RS1 million, while those with partial damage will receive RS500,000.

The cattle owners will not be ignored, said Maryam, adding that families that lose large animals will receive RS500,000, and those who lose small animals will receive RS50,000. “I am Nawaz Sharif’s daughter, and I intend to maintain all the promises made,” he said. “No affected individual will run out of support.”

He also revealed several development projects, including the construction of a permanent embankment in Jalalpur Pirwala, supervising future evacuations and the launch of the Gillani highway for UCH Sharif.

“The victims of floods are our guests, there is no hurry to return home until it is sure,” he said. “We are tirelessly working to safeguard each family.” Even in pain, Maryam promised continuous support, saying: “We may not bring the deceased back, but we will not leave any stone without removing to restore normality.”

In addition, in a decisive movement to boost the flood recovery efforts of Punjab, the main minister has created a high level committee of 14 members to frame a solid strategy of relief and rehabilitation.

Senior Minister Marriyum Aurengzeb will lead the committee as a call, according to an official notification. The Committee will formulate an integral mechanism for disaster response and the rehabilitation of people affected by floods.

The panel includes key provincial figures, including ministers that supervise health, irrigation, agriculture, medical education and emergency services, and irrigation, agriculture, finance and rescue 1122 secretaries.

The administrative leadership of the main secretary, as well as the heads of the Planning and Development Board, the Income Board and the Punjab Information Technology Board, are also involved. Members also include the CEO of urban unit and the general director of PDMA. The committee can co -opt the specialists as necessary to improve their effectiveness.

The tasks of the committee include the design of immediate response mechanisms and long term, prepare the financing requirements, evaluate the damages in an integral way (for homes, crops and infrastructure) and the creation of digital maps of routes and flood areas.

The final objective is a structured action plan with clear terms and recovery objectives. The panel has received an adjusted deadline for one week to present its plan to CM.
