Punjab Prime Minister Maryam Nawaz, Sharif, officially opened the agricultural tube well project today, marking a significant step towards sustainable agriculture in the province.
The first phase of the initiative will see 8,000 agricultural pipes changed to solar energy through Punjab, said Express News.
Speaking at the ceremony, Maryam Nawaz announced that successful farmers would be selected through a lottery system.
The first name drawn was Muhammad Nawaz from Atock. He also reviewed the list of successful farmers in the District of Nareowal.
This project is expected to bring great savings to farmers.
A typical farmer can save up to RS10,000 daily and more than RS3.25 Lakh monthly by changing to tube wells with solar energy.
The Punjab government will provide subsidies for solar systems: RS5 Lakh for a 10 kilowatt system, 7.5 Lakh for a 15 -kilowatt system and RS10 Lakh for a 20 kilowatt system.
The Solarisation project has attracted more than 530,000 applicants, with 385,000 eligible for the lottery.
The majority, approximately 87%, of the tube wells that operate in diesel and electricity, the transition to solar energy, significantly reducing the dependence of non -renewable sources.
The main minister established an objective to complete the first phase of the solarization project in June. Maryam Nawaz expressed his confidence that this initiative will reduce the cost of agricultural production and will cause a revolution in agriculture.
He also highlighted other initiatives, including the farmer’s card, agricultural mechanization and internships, all of which aim to improve the lives of farmers.
In addition, he emphasized that this solarization project would be a new chapter in the growth of agriculture in Punjab and would provide great boost to the sector.
