Punjab and Yokohama have agreed to cooperation from ‘City to Ciudad’ in several fields, including environmental protection and the supply of modern development systems to the cities, Prime Minister Maryam Nawaz announced on Monday during his visit to the Japanese commercial, economic and cultural center on Monday.
The Prime Minister and his delegation received detailed information on urban development at the City Council of Yokohama. She argued how to bring the quality of the construction of roads and buildings in Punjab along with Japan. He also discussed several possibilities of cooperation between the Urban Development Authority of Ravi (Ruda) and Yokohama.
The main minister reviewed the possibilities of cooperation to administer a high -speed train between Lahore and Islamabad, in addition to the update of the railway infrastructure in the province. He also reviewed the latest Japanese telesilla and air cab projects.
Maryam was informed that ‘Kun-Hun’, the three cities of Tokyo, Kawasaki and Yokohama, are found in an industrial zone in Japan. “Yokohama is the second largest city in Japan in terms of population. In May, an annual conference of the Asian Development Bank declared Yokohama the most developed city in Asia in terms of environmental improvement.”

Punjab CM is on an official five -day visit to Japan. He also visited the largest wastewater treatment plant in Japan. Senior Minister Marriyum Aurengzeb accompanied her.
“The technology and modern methods of Japan will be used for wastewater and waste management in Punjab,” he said on the occasion. She inspected Asahi’s waste treatment systems, Yokohama City, Kanagawa, Washimaku and Iodagawa.
They informed him about the collection of garbage and wastewater together with the waste systems of Japanese cities. It was informed that the solid waste and wastewater treatment plant in Yokohama treats 1.5 million liters of wastewater daily.
“The Yokohama waste treatment plant is also operating several plants that generate energy from waste. This energy is used for heating systems for the local population,” Japanese officials said. They said that the plant was an ideal institution for the elimination of waste through the use of modern technology.
CM was informed: “The waste is separated into reusable components through a modern plant and an automated system. Despite being an industrial city, Yokohama has the highest environmental standards.”
Maryam said the environmental and urban development model would be implemented in Punjab. He also visited several parts of the Bonded Newport Pier warehouse and a teaching skills center for children under community well -being at the facilities. She saw the children doing several articles with paper and other material.
The children showed their examples of their creative talents and congratulated them. The CM said on the occasion that a community welfare model was also being promoted in Punjab. “We are also adopting methods of education and skills development in modern lines, in addition to providing facilities to Punjab children,” he added.
During a visit to the port of Yokohama, the prime minister informed the hosts about Ruda and said: “We want to develop Lahore, which is located on the banks of the Ravi River, in the Yokohama model.”
He invited Yokohama Urban Development Authority officials to visit Lahore and see Rue’s work. “We want to work for the construction and development of industrial and densely populated cities in Punjab, including Lahore, in Yokohama’s model. We want to transform Ruda into a modern urban development institution in Yokohama’s model.”

Yokohama team accepted the invitation to visit Lahore. CM Maryam said: “We want urban development while guaranteeing protection against environmental pollution and hazards together with industrial development.”
She said: “The densely populated and industrial city of Yokohama of Japan is a rare example of modern urban development.” They gave him an informative session about work, management and facilities in the port.
Meanwhile, Maryam ordered all interested parties to take emergency measures in view of possible bubbles of clouds and torrential rains in Punjab. He directed doctors and paramedical staff in hospitals and health centers to remain alert to deal with any unpleasant situation.
He addressed the officials of the Communications and Works Department to repair and restore the roads affected by the rains immediately. The CM also ordered the administration and other relevant authorities that remain alert in view of heavy rains in Chakwal and other areas.
He also ordered the authorities to guarantee the protection of lives and property in low areas of Chakwal, along with banning the bathroom in rivers and channels. She directed the police to patrol all areas.
He issued directives for the timely evacuation of the residents of the areas affected by the flooding and restoration of traffic by eliminating the obstacles of small and large roads affected by the rains. She said: “Clouds and torrential rains are natural calamities. All relevant institutions must remain alert at all times. Negligence will not be tolerated in this regard.”
