Matli:
The city of Badin de Matli, like many rural and suburban areas of the province, is in a drug plague. The community is losing their young people for the methamphetamine ice drug, heroin and local prepared liquor.
Abdul Rehman Halepota, a prominent social figure, leader of the Popular Party of Pakistan (PPP) and the municipal councilor of Matli, has announced a comprehensive campaign to stop the growing sale and the use of crystalline methamphetamine (commonly known as ice) and other narcotics in urban and rural areas of Matli.
Speaking at a press conference, Halepota said that the propagation without control of narcotics, particularly crystal methamphetamine, has taken not only the current generation, but also raises a serious threat to the future of young people. He stressed that immediate and practical steps were necessary to save society with more damage.
The PPP leader declared that he enjoys the full support of the elected representatives of the constituency in this mission. He revealed that only three days before, an advisory meeting had been held with the School Administrations and the Local Police to design a coordinated strategy against drug proliferation.
Halepota announced that the campaign will formally launch in a secondary school of children in Matli through an awareness seminar on the dangers of narcotics. “We will take this trip to the levels of the neighborhood council and union, involving representatives of the local government, the elderly of the community and concerned institutions,” he said.
He stressed that statistical data highlights the devastating drug impact, particularly crystal methamphetamine, which has gained lives and destroyed families. The next campaign will aim to raise awareness and mobilize public opinion against drug abuse.
