- Mcafee says that the scam detector reaches 99%precision, including the detection of video plates.
- Real time scam alerts on WhatsApp, Gmail and more, but only if you pay McAFee
- The scam detector adds flash to the alignment of McAFEE, but free rivals could be more practical
Mcafee has begun to group its new scam detector function in all its basic antivirus plans.
The tool claims to identify scams before causing damage and offers real -time scan of text, email and video content.
The measure seems to be in response to the growing threat of scams driven by AI, but poses questions about whether users must pay for this type of protection when there are several free and similar options.
Scam detection access
Mcafee says that his tool has a 99% accuracy for text -based threats and claims to detect defenders of YouTube and Tiktok with a 96% accuracy.
Built with mobile use in mind, it admits applications such as WhatsApp, Messenger, Gmail and more, to scan android SMS automatically and allows manual scans on iPhones.
Its configuration allows users to adjust sensitivity, and includes verifications at request loading messages or screenshots.
“The reality is that the volume, speed and sophistication of today’s scam
“In including the detection of text messages, email and video fraud within all McAfee’s central plans, we are helping to democratize the protection of the scam and train people to take control over their digital lives.”
However, to obtain access, you must pay for an antivirus subscription plan in McAFEE, raising the issue of whether the scam detector justifies the payment of a complete security set, particularly with free credible tools available.
Free alternatives
One of those free tools is Bitdefender’s Scamio, a chatbot available in Discord. This feature is not blocked by Plan such as McAfee; It is completely free and allows users to scan links, texts, screenshots and even QR codes for scam detection.
The tool uses AI to interpret both the context and the language, but does not include the detection of deep videos. However, it is accessible and effective for everyday threats.
Google has also launched a scam detector based on AI, but only for pixel phones and only in beta. Scane audio of incoming calls and alert users in real time if you identify a typical fraud language.
Like McAfee, Norton, another heavyweight in the antivirus space, integrates his protection of genius scam in his plans, although he focuses on identifying the scam language instead of only malicious URLs.
Users also have to subscribe to get full access to their coverage in texts, calls, emails and websites.
The McAfee scam detector could improve the company’s position among the best antivirus suppliers, but its positioning as an exclusive characteristic of the plan makes it less accessible than alternatives as Scamio.
