Rafael Devers’s position continues, and now it seems that the main office is getting involved.
Devers, who has played third base in his entire career with Boston’s red socks, found himself in a peculiar place when the team signed Alex Bregman, also a third base of a lifetime (and a much better defensive defensive), shortly before the season began.
Devers is a three-time All-Star, and despite a lot of rotation in Boston (especially exchanging Mookie Betts in 2020), Devers was the only star that the team chose to maintain. They signed it with an 11 -year agreement worth $ 313.5 million before the 2023 season, which would have been a year of contract.

But although both parties show loyalty to each other in those discussions, there is now an intense theater elaboration.
The plan after Bregman signed seemed to be transferred to Devers to the second, but Devers actually has only dh’d this year. Meanwhile, Bregman has tripped the hot corner, and the emergence of the rookie Kristian Campbell in the second has left Devers without a position in the field.
Well, the first Triston Casas base is out for the season with a knee injury, and the Sox approached Devers with the idea of playing the first base, but closed it quite quickly.
Now, it is reported that the owner of the Sox John Henry, General Manager Craig Breslow and the president of the Sam Kennedy team flew to Kansas City, where the Sox play this weekend, to meet with the four times All-Star.
Manager Alex Cora spoke privately with Devers on Friday, and it has been reported that Devers’s attitude on the posts has not been well received at the Club House.

During his public refutation of the possible position change, Devers cited the previous instructions of the red socks related to him using his glove.
“I know that I am a player, but at the same time, they cannot wait for each position to play,” said Devers through a translator, according to the Boston Globe. “In spring training, they talked to me and basically they told me to keep my glove, that I was not going to play in any other position other than DH.”
“So at this time, I feel that it is not an appropriate decision of them to ask me to play another position,” he added.
Then, Devers questioned if Breslow, the team turned into an executive of the team, had some level of discontent towards him.
“I’m not sure [issue] He has with me, “Devers told journalists.” He played the ball, and I would like to think that changing positions like that is not easy. “
Devers is currently hitting .253, the lowest from a .240 campaign in 2018, its second year in the Major Leagues. He leads the American league in both strikeouts as in walks.

He has not played another position since he played an entry in the campocort in 2023, for despair. In total, he has played three entries of his career in each position of the central box, and more than 8,000 in the third.
