Meghan Markle accused of turning children into ‘clickbait assets’

Meghan Markle is facing fresh criticism for how she presents her children online after posting another set of partially obscured photos of Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4, this time alongside a business update.

The latest debate began when Meghan shared a Thanksgiving-themed image on her As Ever and Instagram accounts, showing her with her children but keeping their faces away from the camera.

It’s a style he’s used consistently and offers only limited glimpses of the boys.

About an hour into the Christmas post, Meghan debuted a new ShopMy page with items she selected herself.

Critics immediately linked the two moves, accusing her of using “controlled” images of her children to draw attention to her growing retail efforts.

A source familiar with its online strategy argued that the approach is deliberate: “This aesthetic of controlled viewing is not about privacy, but about maximizing value.

She is turning them into dreamy clickbait and managing them for maximum brand value.”

The source added that Meghan “curates her visibility like any influential parent who manages content assets” and predicted that she could eventually create social media platforms for Archie and Lilibet to turn them into “online earners” capable of earning significant income from branded posts.

Journalist Tom Sykes echoed the criticism in The realist in Substack.

“I have long maintained that Meghan’s children are selling by the inch, their images drip-feeding to punters as part of the lifestyle she sells,” he wrote, saying the Thanksgiving release follows the same pattern.

“The children appear in the now-familiar format: backs to the camera, faces slightly obscured…always out of reach,” Sykes continued. “Meghan shows it to the kids, but not really… while still using them to promote the Sussex brand in the media.”
