Melissa Gilbert, who did not speak about all the accusations and claims, decides to speak out.
Gilbert, owner of the Modern Prairie clothing brand, issued a statement when Timothy Busfield turned himself in to police on January 13.
Hours later, the brand understands the seriousness of the problem and addressed it via Instagram.
“Modern Prairie is aware of recent media reports of serious allegations involving a family member of our brand muse, Melissa Gilbert. These allegations do not involve Modern Prairie, our operations, or our community,” the statement said.
“Modern Prairie unequivocally condemns abuse in all its forms and remains committed to the values of safety, integrity and respect.”
Modern Prairie reiterated, “These matters are personal and do not directly involve Melissa or the brand,” adding that the company “respects the family’s privacy as they navigate a personal and difficult situation.”
“Our focus remains on supporting our community and continuing our work with care, responsibility and intention,” the statement concluded.
The brand’s statement follows Gilbert’s first comment about the entire scenario and her husband’s arrest, which were shared by Gilbert’s manager, Ame Van Iden, on her behalf.
“She is honoring the request of Tim’s attorneys not to speak publicly while the legal process unfolds,” Van Iden said.
“During this period, her focus is on supporting and caring for her large family as they navigate this time. Melissa supports her husband and will address the public at the appropriate time. We ask that her privacy be respected.”
For those who don’t know, Busfield faces two counts of sexual misconduct; one of the twins and one count of child abuse.
According to the arrest warrant, the alleged victim’s twins met Busfield on the set of Fox series, The cleaning ladyafter Busfield joined as director in season 2.
