Merchants have announced a complete strike on April 26 in the province of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in solidarity with the people of Palestine.
The announcement was made by the senior vice president of the Jamiat Business Forum, Mushtaq Ahmed Khalil, who declared that the strike will cover the entire province, including the capital city, Peshawar. He confirmed that all the main commercial organizations have declared support for the move.
A special meeting has been scheduled for April 24 in Peshawar to finish the preparations. According to Khalil, arrangements for a peaceful strike are already underway.
He also stressed that social networks are actively used to promote the boycott of Israeli products together with the planned protest.
The coordination with several commercial agencies is in Progreso, and market leaders have secured full cooperation to close companies for the day.
The conversations are also ongoing with representatives of the transport sector to expand participation.
Jamaat-E-Islami (JI) has announced a national strike on April 26 to protest against the ongoing military operations of Israel in Gaza and express solidarity with the Palestinians. The call was made by Chief Ji Hafiz Naeemur Rehman during a large pro-palestine concentration held on Sunday throughout the Islamabad highway.
When heading to thousands of participants, Rehman condemned what he described as a genocide in Gaza, where, according to the reports, more than 51,000 Palestinians have been killed since Israel launched their military response to the October 7 attack of Hamas.
