- Mark Zuckerberg has confirmed that the new Meta Smart glasses are directed to our path “at the end of this year”
- He mentioned multiple “releases”
- And he made fun that “some new technological capabilities” also arrive
The first 2025 gain report of the Meta quarter is live, and during a call with the investors that argue the results, the CEO Mark Zuckerberg confirmed that we are obtaining new smart glasses at the end of this year, and could be better than anything we have seen before.
According to Meta, its Ray-Ban smart glasses are a quick success. In the last year, sales have tripled, and their glasses have four times more active monthly users than a year ago.
Eager to capitalize on this success, Zuckerberg told investors that “we have some new exciting releases with our partner EsSiloruxotic at the end of this year, that should expand that category and add some new technological capabilities to the glasses.”
There are two things to take into account in this comment: the use of plural “launches and the promise of” new technological capacities. ” Because, while Zuckerberg did not expand these comments during the call, the leaks already seem to have spoiled the surprises of smart glasses by the end of this year.
Starting with these new capabilities, this is almost certain that it is a nod to the Ray-Ban smart glasses now closely linked to a screen.
To update it, these new stripes would be almost functionally identical to what has come before (with a camera, speakers and a goal functionality AI), but they will also incorporate a single screen into the lens.
Unfortunately, it is rumored that they are also expensive: we are talking about more than $ 1,000 / £ 1,000 / au $ 1,500 according to the people who know it.
In spite of this, the update has the potential to be huge, since it could provide significant ar features to the finishing specifications, since it pushes more glasses argated with the consumption version of its GOOD ORION GASES.
As for the other releases, we hope that Meta also reveals a couple of specifications centered on the athlete based on the Oakley Sphaera glasses. Oakley, like Ray-Ban, is a brand owned by Essiloruxotica.
These would not incorporate a screen, and the camera would apparently move from the side of the glasses to the center, but little more has been confirmed. With luck, they would incorporate specific athletes such as career or bicycle assistance through their goal AI integration.
Beyond the Oakley glasses and the specifications equipped with the screen, I have the feeling that the goal could have another torque or two under the sleeves, according to the filtered comments of the company’s CTO that the goal is “pushing our advantage by launching half a dozen more wearables with AI food.”
They could include the target cameras of rumors, which would add cameras to more typical headphones, or an intelligent target clock (that the readers of a long time will know that it is rumored that it is canceled / not canceled every few months) as a way to control their glasses.
But I have the feeling that we could also obtain standard stripe specifications, especially if those with a screen are as expensive as it has been rumored.
These smart glasses would offer exactly the same functionality as the existing model, but with some combination of better cameras, better audio and a better battery life for the same cost.
Based on the success of the intelligent target glasses and the fact that their glasses approach two years, an update would make sense, although this is only a heart (and I will admit that my predictions of reality laboratories are not always stellar).
As for when we will see these glasses, the comment “Later this year” by Zuckerberg, almost guarantees an October launch. This is the month in which Meta has launched the new Hardware of reality laboratories in recent years after announcing technology in its Connect target event, which generally takes place at the end of September.
This year’s connection is September 17 and 18, so it will not be long before we see these new intelligent specifications in action, and I am already counting the days.
