- Goal revealed that the ideal VR reality games session is 20 to 40 minutes
- Less than that and virtual reality does not feel valuable
- Longer and hardware problems can have a negative impact
Meta has published a new research that has conducted in the perfect length of virtual reality games, and based on my experience testing its Quest 3, Quest 3s goal and its oldest headphones, the results of the true study ring.
This advice could not only mean that we see alterations in the types of applications that we obtain in virtual reality, but also fit the finish line. Their published findings point to the design problems that many have with the existing hardware, problems that suggest the leaks of the next version of the finish lines have been resolved for their next device.
More about that below, but first let’s start with the goal investigation, and why 20-40 minutes is apparently the ideal length for a virtual reality game session.
As explained in a succinctly in a short graph (above), the “length of the goal session” is approximately 20-40 minutes depending on your investigation.
If a virtual reality session is shorter than 20 minutes, we can become dissatisfied. While many mobile games can get yours with a shorter loop of 5 to 10 minutes (or even less), virtual reality requires more effort to enter (clear the space, put on the headphones, etc.), so it requires a more valuable experience.
VR can still offer those shorter loops, such as Beat Sabre Delivering levels that are just a song long, but they need to be chained significantly. For example, you can play several Beat Sabre Misiones as part of a training, or as warming for its VR Gaming Sesh. For multiplayer games, if a typically lasts 10 minutes, a satisfactory experience could be that your daily missions are something you generally achieve in two games.
After 40 minutes, the experience begins to have decreasing yields as people begin to feel friction for physical limitations, such as their physical condition levels for a more active game, social isolation in mode for a player, limited battery duration or (for newcomers).
That is why Meta says that he has found that the games between this length are correct (that is, in the golden ricitos zone) for most virtual reality players.
Now, if you are not a virtual reality application developer, this will be directly useful for your software, but for non -developers, there are some things that we can remove from the finish lines.
To start, it provides additional test for the Council that I always give to newcomers of virtual reality: I only start with a headset and get accessories later.
Now, if they are released in a package, that is one thing, but if you are looking to spend a significant sum with a battery incorporated on the first day, you may want to think again.
Yes, there are many people who push that 40 minutes barrier and love it, so it is useful to have a larger battery. I always think about my time playing Batman: Arkham Shadow While my battery allows it and is so frustrated when waiting for it to be recharged, there are many people for which only 20 to 40 minutes is perfect.
As I always say, try your headphones for a few weeks and see if you need a larger battery or benefit from any other accessory before buying them. With a quick delivery, you will not wait long before you get them anyway if you decide that they are for you.
This research could also point out the next Meta VR headphones design, as it works to eliminate some of VR hardware barriers.
There are several rumors that your next headicular, the name in Puffin Code, and now Phoenix in leaks, will be ultra-slim glasses. It is said that its rival, Pico, is designing something similar (you can see the 4 ultra peak).
Most of the processing power and battery would be changed to an album, such as Apple’s vision, but with even more crowded in the pocket package, so that the weight in a person’s head is just a little more than 100 g.
Taking into account that a Quest 3 goal weighs 515 g, this would be a serious change, and could transform the horizon headphones into something that people can (and want) to use for hours instead of less than an hour.
In addition, with the battery in a person’s pocket, goal could make it even larger than before without affecting comfort. However, as with all speculation, we will have to wait and see what Meta announces below, perhaps it does not resemble a headset and a smart watch.
