The legendary open receiver of the Dallas Cowboys, Michael Irvin, opened about an incident in which he was arrested for possession of cocaine in the early years of the team’s dynasty.
During the seventh episode of Netflix docuseries “America’s Team: The Gambler and her cowboys,” Irvin spoke about the March 1996 incident that saw him arrested and finally tried the possession of cocaine.

It occurred only one month after the team won their third Super Bowl in a period of four years, since Irvin had established itself as a superstar of the league and future member of the Hall of Fame.
“He had a routine, after winning the Super Bowl, before he starts next season, you get about one month, and that month you release and have a good time,” Irvin said about the incident that happened just before his birthday on March 5.

The documentary showed that, on March 4, 1996, the police found Irvin, its former teammate of the Cowboys Alfredo Roberts and two women in a hotel room in Texas with drug paraphernalia, sex toys, marijuana and cocaine. A hidden camera video showed Irvin arguing about cocaine while in the passenger car seat.
Irvin potentially faced 20 years in prison. But finally, there was no competence for the possession of cocaine of serious crime in exchange for four years of deferred probation, a fine of $ 10,000 and the dismissal of positions of possession of minor crimes of marijuana. The first five games of the 1996 season was also suspended.

Even so, the incident resulted in a difficult conversation with his wife, Sandy Harrelll.
“My wife, she looked at me and she said: ‘Don’t say a word, God already told me that I am your wife and that I will not go anywhere. But you have to make peace with God,” Irvin said in the documentary. “I don’t think I ever felt worse in my life.”
