Michael J. Fox’s rep was forced to debunk a false death rumor after a new outlet accidentally published a tribute video suggesting the actor had died.
“Michael is doing very well,” his representative said. TMZ on April 8. “He was at PaleyFest yesterday. He was on stage and he was doing interviews.”
cnn posted a video titled “Remembering the life of actor Michael J. Fox” before quickly deleting it.
A spokesperson for the network confirmed the error, saying TMZ: “The package was published in error; we removed it from our platforms and sent our apologies to Michael J. Fox and his family.”
In fact, the 64-year-old man had been very present the day before, attending the Contraction Final screening of season three at PaleyFest in Los Angeles on April 7.
Fox, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991 and has been open about his current battle with the disease, spoke with PEOPLE in October about his approach to living with it.
“You take the good and you run with it,” he said. “I wake up and get the message of what the day is going to be like, and I try to adjust to it. I keep facing new physical challenges and overcoming them. I roll around a lot in a wheelchair and it took me some time to get used to it.”
He shares four children with his wife Tracy Pollan, 65.
