Michael Porter Jr. has been no stranger to stirring up controversy on podcasts, but there’s a good chance that’s all in the past.

That’s because the Brooklyn Nets star said on fellow NBA teammate Lonzo Ball’s show that his team advised him to “stay away” from specific topics.

“Being on the Internet for anything other than basketball, I feel like it’s a summer thing. But no, definitely, even the organization, we’ve had conversations, they would appreciate if I stayed away from certain topics, you know what I mean?” Porter said.

That didn’t exactly stop Porter from saying her eighth-grade self would do well against WNBA players, citing previous experience. However, she admitted on the podcast that the WNBA issue is “sensitive,” although it wasn’t the first time she had made similar comments.

The Nets did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Porter once said he wouldn’t date a woman who got “beaten up” by another NBA player.

“If it’s someone I’m going to be around every day and I have to see it, and he hit your girl or whatever, it’s going to be hard to deal with,” he said, according to Complex. “Maybe some guys are emotionally locked down enough that it doesn’t bother them, but that’s not me, bro.”

Porter has also mentioned controversial figure Andrew Tate in other appearances, even showing women some of his clips to “play devil’s advocate.”

“I need to see a little bit about his beliefs,” Porter said on the “One Night with Steiny” podcast. “So, I’m not saying I’m misogynistic or anything, but I’ll put on some Andrew Tate and see how they react… I’ll start conversations and play devil’s advocate just to see how this girl thinks about certain things.”

Speaking on Carmelo Anthony’s podcast last month, Porter compared his controversial comments to “just talking s—.”

Porter’s Nets are 2-12 on the season, but Porter is a bright spot, averaging over 24 points and seven rebounds. His brother, Jontay, was recently banned from the NBA for gambling.
