Microsoft has added Claude Sonnet 4 and Claude Opus 4.1 from Anthrope to the selection available for co -driver users, marking an important change as it turns to exclusively offering Openai models.
Anthrope’s models will be available in two areas at the beginning: a new ‘Claude’ test button appears in the experience of the researchers agent, and will also be available in Copilot Studio, where users can opt for Claude models to help build personalized AI agents.
The president of Copilot Business & Industry, Charles Lamanna, announced the change in a blog post, pointing to Microsoft’s “commitment to bring the best innovation of the entire industry” to co -pilot.
Microsoft now offers anthropic models for co -pilot
Claude models have begun to implement users in the Frontier program, Copilot 365 Copilot and Copilot Studio users can opt, but there is a key difference between anthropic and OpenAI offers.
Anthrope’s models will not be housed in Azure, but will access them through an API and will be housed in AWS infrastructure.
Although it marks a change for consumer and companies models within the Microsoft ecosystem, developers have already had access to other models, and in fact Github Copilot in the VS code recently began to favor Claude Sonnet 4 in OpenAi models.
With Claude, overcoming Operai models in Excel and PowerPoint tasks, it could only be a matter of time before the alternatives begin to be available within the Microsoft productivity set.
“This is just the beginning,” Lamanna said. “And they are attentive: anthropic models will bring even more powerful experiences to the co -pilot of Microsoft 365”.
All this comes after Operai and Microsoft separated. Once the exclusive partners, Operai has now registered with Google Cloud and others for the calculation, so it was natural for Microsoft to begin using other AI models as well.
