Microsoft Azure cloud service has been affected by interruptions after underwater fiber cables were cut into the Red Sea, forcing the company to redirect Internet traffic and leave users facing slower speeds and delays, Gian Tech Gian said Saturday.
The company said that its Azure users can face greater delays.
The traffic that passes through the Middle East, starting or destined for Asia or Europe, can experience more interruptions, said the company in an update of health status for its Azure platform.
“Submarine fiber cuts can take time to repair, so we will continue monitoring, re -obtributing and optimizing the routing to reduce the impact on customers in the meantime. We will provide daily updates or before if the conditions change,” Microsoft said.
As a result of the interruption, Azure, the second largest cloud supplier in the world after Amazon AWS, has been forced to redirect traffic through alternative routes, causing higher than normal delays.
