- June update for Windows 11 24h2 was arrested by Microsoft
- A revised update took its place for PCs that were affected by a compatibility problem
- Microsoft has now explained the nature of the error, which referred to certain PC games using treatment protection
Microsoft has just solved a problem with the latest Windows 11 update and has now clarified exactly what the problem and apparent scope of error was.
June update for Windows 11 24h2 was implemented yesterday (June 11), but came with a “compatibility problem” that meant that Microsoft paused for certain PC. However, the company did not tell us what this mysterious compatibility problem was.
This patch (KB5060842) was replaced by a new one (KB5063060) that has now been released to affected devices, and Microsoft has explained what the error was, as the latest Windows reports. It was a problem with a tool against the treatment that meant that the PC games that used this system were blocked.
Microsoft said: “This update addresses a problem of incompatibility in which Windows could be restarted unexpectedly when opening games that use the easy anti-treatment service. The anti-treatment is automatically installed with certain games to improve safety and avoid cheating in the multiplayer online PC games.
“Windows users probably did not experience this problem because [initial] The update that led to the problem of incompatibility (KB506842) was not offered to the devices with easy anti-treatment. “
Analysis: Cut the confusion
This whole issue has been causing some bewilderment. Some people have scratched their heads and wonder if, if their PC obtained the first June patch, do you need the second (replacement)? And others were confused about why they were not receiving any patch.
To try to clarify things, if you did not get any patch, it is because its PC has an installed game that uses easy anti-treatment (EAC). Microsoft blocked the patch for those Windows 11 devices to avoid the compatibility error that blocked those games. However, at this time, he should have received the second update (modified) (KB5063060).
If his Windows 11 PC received the first update (KB5060842) and has no games with EAC, the second patch will probably not be given. After all, you don’t need it as such. However, if he received the first update and has PC games with EAC on board, and this happened to some people before Microsoft stopped the initial patch, despite the fact that the company insists that it was not “probable”, then it will obtain the second update that will effectively overwrite the first.
You can see where confusion enters, since it is a slightly sticky situation. Long and short is that if you have one of these patches, it is good for all security corrections and characteristics improvements that the June update brings. Both are identical updates; It is just that the second includes the mitigation of the EAC BUG at the top.
So, whenever you have one of these installed patches, everything is fine. If you are still seeing the games that EAC use, continue reviewing the Windows update for that second patch to cancel the first (assuming you have not received it).
Another rarity here is that Microsoft said the compatibility problem applied to a ‘limited set’ of Windows 11. But EAC devices is in some huge games, such as Apex legends, Fortnite and a lot of other epic games. That explains why many people reported that they did not receive the initial June patch for Windows 11, which seemed strange since Microsoft indicated that this was a niche problem.
It may have been a limited problem in terms of the amount of PC that really experience blockages, but the number of June update was substantial, and Microsoft did not make that distinction.
