- The application of Microsoft lenses will withdraw from application stores after a decade
- Users can still scan documents with the Microsoft 365 co -pilot application
- Some features, including direct access to the application, will not be available in co -pilot
Microsoft has confirmed that it will extract its application of mobile documents, which was previously launched as Lens Office in 2015, with users who are given a series of dates to take into account.
As of September 15, 2025, the application will be removed from iOS and Android devices, and will be deleted from respective application stores two months later. The third month, on December 15, the scan within the pre -installed application will be disabled, but the existing scans will remain accessible.
Known for not loading subscription rates and its simple and reliable functionality, Microsoft Lens has been a valuable tool to convert printed or handwritten notes into PDF and other types of central files.
Microsoft farewell
Microsoft has more than 92 million discharges for life for its lens application, which is highly qualified on iOS and Android platforms, and although there is already an available replacement, it does not deliver the same characteristics as its predecessor.
The company is now pointing to users to Microsoft 365 Co -cilot to scan, however, it lacks some lens capabilities, such as direct savings to Onenote, Word and PowerPoint.
It also lacks the scan of presentation cards to Onenote, reading functionality and immersive reader.
The Microsoft support page explains how users can access previous scanned files from lenses within the Copilot application with the hope that they can attract them to migrate, but openly admit some features will not be immediately available immediately about whether they will ever be added.
This is not the first time that Microsoft has disapproved of a popular application or characteristic: in November 2024, Paint 3D was eliminated from the Microsoft store, Password Authill in Microsoft Authenticator was recently eliminated, and since October 2026, the editor will no longer be part of the Microsoft 365 suite.
