- A new Gamepad keyboard is available in the last previous view of Windows 11
- It has “buttons accelerators” optimized for handpame pc
- The update should reach everyone in the coming weeks.
Microsoft is implementing a new virtual keyboard to use with the Xbox wireless controller, which will facilitate Windows 11 easier to navigate, especially on portable devices.
The new Gamepad keyboard design for Windows 11 is now available in the View Windows 11 compilation (26100.3613) with a “gradual deployment” promised that you will see that the function reaches each user in the following weeks.
In Microsoft’s own words: “This change presents the ability to use its Xbox controller to navigate and write.” It includes the use of “buttons accelerators” (with some buttons used for entries such as Backspace and Space Bar) and the “keyboard keys have been aligned vertically” for “better controller navigation patterns.”
It is the “buttons accelerators” that seem to be the largest shortcut, as well as the compact design aimed at hand players. LT (the left trigger) is assigned to a secondary symbols key (and 123), with the capitalization key assigned to L3 (clicking on the left stick) and the start button that serves as the Enter key.
The design must sound familiar for those PC players who are accustomed to the vapors, which are available on the steam deck and the Mances of the Steam Deck OLED games. The Valve software is optimized for the use of the hand computer directly from the box in a way that Windows 11 simply has not been when it has been implemented in some of the best hand games such as the Asus Rog Ally X and the Lenovo Go Legion.
With the new Gamepad keyboard still to completely launch, some quality of life have not yet been implemented. He cannot log in to Windows 11 with an Xbox wireless controller, and the new keyboard does not yet appear automatically when entering text fields (through the edge). However, it is a step forward to make Windows 11 a tastier experience for hand games.
Anything to improve Windows 11 on hand computers
The biggest complaint about the use of Windows 11 -based play computers has been the fact that the operating system is not designed for hardware. We have seen this with the pitchers (such as Steam, Epic Games, Gog Galaxy and Ubisoft Connect) is less than stellar with touch screen controls, a keyboard that is slow to use and a text that can be too small to read, among other topics.
Recently it was announced that we would begin to be compatible with non -similar hand computers instead of trusting only in Windows 11. We were 3.7.0 promised a “beginning” for the implementation, and we have seen promising things of Lenovo Legion Go S, which presents Windows 11 for the Valve software. This hand computer has the option for both operating systems, and for the Ryzen Z2 GO chip, which exceeds the oldest personalized RDNA architecture on Valve’s current hand computers.
As such, Microsoft will need to continue optimizing its latest operating system for the portable market if you want to keep competitive in this particular PC arms race. A better keyboard for controllers in Windows 11 is only the beginning, but it is welcome, and we hope that future updates can continue per day.
