- Microsoft’s new global hybrid work policy is a fair commitment, three days
- Redmond and Puget Sound workers will be the first affected workers
- Microsoft’s policy is not as intense as the others
Microsoft people director Amy Coleman has announced a change throughout the company to the office requirements, with employees who will face a three -day mandate from 2026.
The change will be developed in a three -stage movement: Puget Sound/Redmond workers will be among the first to meet the three -day policy in the office at the end of February 2026.
After that, other locations in the United States will follow their example before the change extends worldwide.
Microsoft updates its hybrid work policy
“Our goal with this change is to provide more clarity and consistency in how we join, while we maintain the flexibility we know what to value,” Coleman summarized.
The mandate back to the Microsoft office (RTO) affects workers who live within the 50 miles of a Puget Sound office, but the company has not shared any similar detail for its employees throughout the United States and global.
For now, Puget sound area employees have until September 19 to present an exception.
The company is pressing a better collaboration in person, energy, empowerment and results as key promoters behind its RTO mandate. “The most significant advances occur when we build together about the ideas of others, in real time,” Coleman added.
Although it can be one of the shocking policies in terms of personnel, Microsoft’s change comes several months, or more, after other giants in this space have increased the work requirements of its office.
Google, Meta, Dell, Intel, IBM and Zoom offer three -day+mandates, while Amazon asks workers to be in a company location five days per week.
Workers outside the Puget Sound area, where Microsoft has their headquarters, can expect to hear how change will affect them in the coming weeks and months. The planning of workers outside the US will begin in 2026.
Microsoft said he had nothing more to share regarding his plans for employees throughout the US and global at this time.
