Microsoft is testing a fast machine recovery tool (QMR) to correct the remote start locks, and is now available for Windows Insids on the beta channel for 24h2 that are also prepared to test the tool.
Part of the Windows Resilience Initiative, QMR aims to reduce the amount of inactivity time resulting from system failures and comes into play when Windows 11 cannot start due to defective controllers or configurations.
The senior manager of the Riddhi Ameser program described the feature, first presented by the CEO Satya Nadella in Microsoft Ignite 2024, as a “change of game for Windows 11 devices that faces starting problems.”

System failures can sometimes make devices stagnate in the Windows (RE) recovery environment, Ameser explained, which can severely affect productivity. QMR allows automated corrections “to bring users to a productive state without requiring a complex manual intervention,” says Ameser in a blog post.
The Windows 11 start devices will eventually have this function enabled by default, but Windows 11 Pro and local Enterprise and IT administrators will be able to control whether they want the function to function within their organizations.
“If a Windows 11 device, the 24h2 version finds a critical failure that avoids normal start, enters Windows Re,” explains Ameser. From there, the device is re-connected to the network using Ethernet or protected access to Wi-Fi (WPA) so that Microsoft analyzes blocking data and identify the root cause of the problem. Microsoft then offers a solution through Windows Update.
The initial version allows administrators to enable or disable QMR, configure the scanning interval and test to guarantee preparation before complete implementation.
The company is asking the first users to present comments for the low tool Recovery and uninstall> Quick recovery of the machine To help improve QMR, but it is not yet known about general availability.
