- A new update was made for Windows 11 24h2 games for some PCs
- These devices had a ‘compatibility problem’, which means they needed a revised update
- Microsoft said that this adjusted update should be available for all Windows 11 users, but some still report that they do not have the patch
The last Windows 11 update has arrived, packing important solutions for PC players that execute the 24H2 version of the operating system, but has suffered an unusual technical failure that is causing some confusion.
Last Windows noticed that Microsoft pressed the pause button with the deployment of the June update (formally known as KB5060842), at least for some users after it began to be implemented yesterday.
As Microsoft informs us through the Windows Message Center: “Note: This update is gradually implemented to the devices that run Windows 11, version 24h2 throughout the day. We have identified a compatibility problem that affects a limited set of these devices. If your device is affected, you will receive a revised update with all the security improvements of 2025 by the end of the day.”
Microsoft did not specify what the compatibility problem is, but given the language used in terms of a ‘limited’ amount of affected devices, the problem is being played.
However, observing a couple of Reddit threads, mainly the official announcement of the Jen Gentleman patch of the Windows engineering team, there are a lot of confused users of Windows 11 who wonder where its update is. In addition, there are people with multiple PCs that indicate that one has received the June patch, but others do not.
In theory, at the time of writing, yesterday ended a few hours ago (according to the time of the US Pacific ought Have the patch for now. (Either the original or tight update to solve the compatibility wrinkle, which apparently has a slightly different version number).
However, there are comments on the previous Reddit thread in the line of: “Hasn’t midnight passed now? There is still no update yet. What is happening with this ‘compatibility problem'”? “
Analysis: What is happening and what is the big problem anyway?
Microsoft may have passed with its deadline here. I would barely surprise me if this is the case, and it could be a minor delay. However, what is a little more worrying is some scattered reports on Reddit of people who end with broken operating systems (frozen on green screens or black screens) after applying this June update. There is not enough of those complaints to be really worried, but this is something to consider.
Could those people who accidentally obtain update for a PC vulnerable to the compatibility error accidentally obtained, before Microsoft stops? Maybe, but that is just conjectures. Even so, if you are impatient, and players could be in particular, I would recommend that you not manually install the June update if you are not connecting to your PC through Windows Update automatically. Mainly because it is possible that you do not receive it for a good reason, and by forcing the update, you may find an exhibition problem.
Players in particular will be interested in KB5060842 because this patch applies some crucial adjustments as mentioned at the beginning. That includes the solution for problems with some PC games that are blocked in Windows 11 24h2 and improvements with the stability for NVIDIA GPUs (as well as a possible resolution for problems with the mouse or the keyboard delay). All this was seen in the previous view version of this patch last month.
Another new feature introduced with this patch is the cross -service curriculum. This allows you to resume work in OneDrive files between your PC and your smartphone (and will eventually evolve to a more great vision of this functionality).
There are also a lot of exclusive powers for co -pilot+ PCs, including a Copilot Ask option for the click function, and a change that has emerged from the left field that was not in the pre -view update in May. This is a 60 -day limit that has been imposed at the system restoration points, so from now on, the restoration points of more than two months will disappear in the ether.
For the uninitiated, System Restore is a feature that allows you to take a snapshot of the current configuration of your PC in a work state, so that if any type of error causes ravages on your device, it can in theory (assuming that you can access the desk) to backride the return time to that point. It is not that there is any guarantee that it works, mind, but it is an option that is worth trying to solve problems.
This is a characteristic that Microsoft has not touched in a long time, so why getting it in this way now? That is a good question, and I can’t think of a good answer, really. If I had to guess, perhaps the system’s restaurant is not used so much these days, so it is being reduced.
